Edit: I started writing this article on 4th February 2024, a few days before experiencing a deep and heavy loss myself. As a psychic medium I do hear from past over loved ones but in the same capacity everyone else is able to. When you do a crossing over session, the medium would be channeling your loved one in a more fluid, uninterrupted message. However when you are receiving messages from a passed loved one on a day-to-day basis the messages are usually more difficult to understand.

The topic of death is a very enlightening subject because it pushes us to think deeply. We might think about when ours will happen and what it would feel like. When someone close to us has passed we might think of where they might be and whether they are still around in some way to communicate with us. As a medium through my experience I believe that in order to connect with anything there must be some form of existence on an energetic level. I believe that souls that have crossed over are able to communicate with us in small ways. In this article I will teach you how to read the signs and what to make of them. 

Feathers, birds and nature:

Spirit on the other side have limited means to communicate with us and for most of us that won’t be in a coherent conversation but rather through signs and synchronicities. A common way for them to communicate is through nature. They may leave a feather on your path or you may see recurring butterflies or birds wondering around. Try and focus on what you were thinking of at the time you saw the sign to understand what the message is. Better yet, set up a system of communication with your loved one. Its usually best to ask yes/no questions until you get the hang of it. For example, asking whether you are in the right relationship or job at the moment. Ask your person to leave a feather on your path for a yes in the next 7 days. 

Dreams:

The dream realm is a place that our passed loved ones can visit us. This method is tricky since our grief tends to block our third eye and heart chakra and makes it difficult for them to come through. Since my uncle passed when I dream of him I always have the thought that we don’t have much time together. Which is unfortunate because I spend my dream time worrying about when it’s going to end. These kind of dreams indicate where the subconscious and the Ego are blocking your ability to connect. There isn’t a quick fix to healing through the grief, but it is possible to also do some healing in this realm. With that being said if you would like to dream/ connect more with this person I would recommend chatting to them before you go to bed and inviting them to join you in the astral realm. 

Familiar smells:

Commonly in crossing overs spirit usually communicate with me visually and give me a sense of their personality to validate that it is them coming through. In my own personal experience connecting with my loved ones I noticed that scents come through the strongest.  This is a way that your loved one can show you that they are around and present. 

This is not a conclusive list of how passed over loved ones may communicate but is rather a guide. Just like our Spirit Guides our past over loved ones with communicate with us in our language and through out world, the key is trusting yourself when the message does come through.
